Helsinki Amorphis Rye Malt Whiskey
About the Product:
Amorphis Rye Malt Whiskey is a limited Finnish whisky produced in collaboration between the progressive metal band Amorphis and the Helsinki Distilling Company. It is made from Finnish malted rye and barley and has been aged in a combination of bourbon, sherry and slightly smoky casks, which gives a whisky with a distinctly dark, complex and atmospheric character.
The taste is the core of the expression and is characterized by a powerful but well-balanced combination of sweetness, spiciness and depth. It opens with caramel, honey and dark syrup, followed by the clear spiciness of the rye with hints of black pepper, cinnamon and light herbiness. Then come richer notes of dried fruit such as raisins and plums, along with dark chocolate, roasted nuts and oak. A subtle smokiness lies as a background tone and ties the whole together, giving the whisky a dark and almost dramatically wintery character.
The whisky reflects both Nordic craftsmanship and Amorphis' musical aesthetic - intense, deep and multidimensional.
About the Producer:
The Helsinki Distilling is a relatively young distillery located in Helsinki, and has quickly established itself as an important player in the Nordic drinking culture. The company was founded in 2014 with the ambition to combine traditional craftsmanship with modern flavors and a clear local roots. By producing spirits in the middle of an urban environment, rather than in the countryside, the distillery has also become a popular destination for visitors.
The Helsinki Distilling Company is particularly known for its gin and whisky, where raw materials and flavors are often sourced from the Finnish countryside. Local herbs, berries and spices are used to create unique flavor profiles that reflect the character of the region. Their gin is often characterized by fresh, aromatic notes, while the whisky is developed with a focus on balance and depth.
In addition to production, the distillery also functions as a social meeting place. Adjacent to the facility is a bar and restaurant where guests can try the drinks in various forms, often in combination with Nordic-inspired food
